Pernem has a very special and different way of celebrating the festival. Here the festival is called Pednechi Punav 
It is also believed that Lord Bhutnath, who does not have his own temple, Lord Bhutnath demand that to built his temple. He is persistent by nature and gets angry while devotees try to pacify him. Even during the modern-day celebrations, this belief is observed. Devotees try to pacify him by telling him that his demand cannot be fulfilled in a night’s time by chanting ‘Band-tu-saiba’.
