El Hob El Halal : playing with fluidity and stillness

In this video, I am exploring several possibilities: while improvising, I am going with and against rhythms and searching for some moments, in which I hold the rhythms in a still presence: sometimes, I do perform some subtle shivers but they are unfortunately not visible in the video. Nevertheless, I want to maintain the fluid character as the main theme: Fluidity has come to me as a source of great inspiration during late pandemic times, in which dance possibilities were limited. Throughout this time, dance becomes more inwards. The video was taken during winter, another moment for stillness and reflection, which manifests itself in the movement. Fluidity in Raqs Sharqi is very important: it is also the result of a connected, integrated body.
