(First NB Trip) Caltrain: Stadler KISS EMU Train

Recorded on Sunday, August 11, 2024, from Millbrae to San Francisco 4th & King.

After many months of these trains being tested, these trains finally entered service on August 10 as a VIP train, and on August 11 for the public, as a soft launch! There were 2 EMU Train sets running on August 11. This is the start of a new era for Caltrain, since these trains will replace the diesels very soon, which is estimated to be September 21st later this year. But diesel trains will still run from San Jose to Gilroy.

This is my first time ever riding a Caltrain EMU Train! These new trains are much quieter, have automated announcements, have good free wifi, have faster acceleration, and also have some train destination screens!
This was the first EMU trip that was available for the public to ride! This is also the first northbound train of the day! This train started in Tamien, heading northbound to San Francisco, and departing Tamien around 7:12 AM. I rode this train from Millbrae to San Francisco 4th & King, and it came to Millbrae at about 8:27 AM, which was 2 minutes early. I had to wake up at 6 AM to catch this, so this is my first time ever waking up early for a transit fanning trip!
After this train got to San Francisco 4th & King at around 8:55 AM, it later did train #228 headed southbound to Tamien, which departed 4th/King about 9:59 AM, which is also the first Southbound EMU train the public can ride. I also rode Train #228 from 22nd St SF to Palo Alto, and I recorded that ride from San Mateo to Redwood City, the video link is here:    • Caltrain: Stadler KISS EMU Train #228...  

This same train set also did Train #241 Northbound to SF in the afternoon, I rode that as well, from Palo Alto to Bayshore.
