People know about Whistler Mountian; the largest resort in Canada, host of 2010 Winter Olympics and one of the best known mountain resorts in the world. There aren't many quiet days on the mountain, but when it happens it's pretty magical. Usually the things are a mix of chance and a bit of good judgement. In this case we hedged our bets on the 7th Heaven Chair, one of Blackcomb's highest chairs and closed the previous day for high winds.

Spent the early morning hopping around the mid mountain powder zones. 7th Heaven lift was still on stand-by and as we were standing next to it, contemplating our next move the lifty pulled the gate and made our decision for us.

Definitely something special to get on so early on a quiet day like this. News travels pretty fast on the mountain, but going places can take a while on such a big mountain. Whistler, Blackcomb's sister mountain, wasn't opening their alpine lifts so we knew eventually the crowds would come, but for the next hour or so we were going to try and milk this area for as much sweet fluffy powder as we could.

White out conditions came and went, but left the upper area exposed. Once getting into the trees visibility and snow conditions improved greatly. The area is so vast that it's impossible to access the far sections on the first attempt (not that you need to). Successive laps we use the previous tracks for momentum to break across to new sections and make the ride out easier as it gets more established.

So fortunate to get to ride her today. Thanks for everyone that was out having a blast.
