Formerly known as Ceylon, the island nation of Sri Lanka is known for its diverse landscaped and for its many amazing Buddhist monuments and ruins dating back more than 2,000 years.

Sri Lanka is a diverse Island country. Anuradhapura is famous for sacred sites and is home for Ruwanwelisaya Stupa. One can also visit the Abhayagiri Dagoba, Kuttam Pokuna tanks, Dambulla for cave temples, and Citadel of Sigiriya.

One should also visit the city of Kandy where you can see the temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. Also include Polonnaruwa the ancient city and Galle, the historic fortified town to your Sri Lanka bucket list.

The Heritage sites of the world are celebrated for having great cultural or historical significance, and it doesn’t hurt that they are also often majestic and awe-inspiring.
