Avatar Cake 💙🌊

Making of the Avatar Cake.

Cake is a vanilla bean cake and chocolate cake layers, frosted with blue Swiss meringue buttercream. Finished with white chocolate ganache.

I coloured my modelling chocolate with Blue Gel food colour by Satin Ice. All fondant is also by Satin Ice.

Eyes are made from isomalt and edible paper for the lens.

The structure is a threaded metal rod, secured to wooden base below the cake board. The head is secured into place with a thin cake board, fasteners and screws.

This was my first time attempting a bust cake. I’m very proud of it. Obviously, it has its flaws like the ears are a bit too big but such is life. Will definitely know better for the next cake.
