The UP government has taken an action against Khalid Azim alias Ashraf Ahmad, brother of Atiq Ahmad, who was MP from Phulpur, UP. Ashraf is also a former MLA and is now behind the bars of the jail. The administration has attached Ashraf's assets worth about Rs 25 crore. The police have taken this action in the case of the Gangster Act registered 3 years ago. Police say that Ashraf's other properties are also under investigation. Five-time legislator and one-time MP Ahmad, now over 60, has more than 90 criminal cases, including murder, abduction, illegal mining, extortion, intimidation, and fraud, against him.
