The three-story neoclassical corner house that shaped the character of Pest during the reform era was built by József Hild in 1818 and then renovated for Sándor Wagner in 1840, thus acquiring its present form. József Hild is also credited with landmarks such as St. Stephen's Basilica, Esztergom Basilica, and Gerbeaud House.
