Описание к видео "From Moment to Movement": Building Bridges for Human Rights

On March 20-22, 2015, over 1,100 activists gathered in Brooklyn, NY for Amnesty International USA’s 50th Annual General Meeting. The theme of the conference was "From Moment to Movement," reflecting the spark of change that can begin in an instant and reverberate for years.

The conference featured the re-launch of Art for Amnesty in the US; an incredible human rights action on the Brooklyn Bridge to raise awareness about three New Yorkers recently killed by police; inspiring plenaries with organizers from the protests in Ferguson, Hong Kong and Mexico; panel discussions with former Prisoners of Conscience, youth activists and seasoned human rights organizers; and many more networking and action opportunities where activists created their own spaces and strategies to build our movement!

“We must build bridges that can carry a moment and turn it into a movement. That bridge that we build at Amnesty should be one that is sustainable, that gives passionate activists a home. And if you are willing to build that bridge with me, I ask you to please stand. And join us for building bridges for all those who want to join us in this fight to protect people wherever freedom, justice, truth and dignity are denied!” ~Steven W. Hawkins, Amnesty International USA executive director
