It's seed corn harvest time in the Corn Belt. Corn from the production fields is arriving at our facility in Atkinson, IL for processing.

The first stage of the process is "Husk and Sort". Here, trucks dump out the corn and it is conveyed into the husk and sort building. The husk and sort building itself is divided into independent systems, allowing us to process multiple hybrids at once. As the process begins, rubberized rollers in our husking beds are used to protect the seed kernels during husking. Automatic camera eye sorters make sure only fully husked ears move on. Then, experienced personnel perform eyes-on, hands-on screening, assuring ears meet Wyffels' strict specifications for type and quality.

From the Husking facility, ears are moved to the dryer building, where bins are filled to a depth and pattern, allowing optimal airflow.
