Had a long call with someone trying to figure out how to get out of a stuck spot.

Doesn’t like his job. Doesn’t know what he wants. Doesn’t think people will pay him to do what he enjoys.

We broke it down.

Started with a wall. Literally go tape stuff up on your wall. Start putting together your skills, your interests, and most importantly… your connections’ connections.

You don’t need more schooling.

You need:
to talk to people
to research people doing things that sound interesting
to reach out without asking for a job
to ask the right question: “who do you know that knows someone I can help?”

We talked about how 6 tries at a career path isn’t enough. You need 30 data points minimum to even get signal. If you haven’t done that yet, you haven’t given it a real shot.

Also walked through how to build a resume, portfolio, LinkedIn, and system that works like a CRM for outreach. Not because a resume gets you a job,but because it gets you in the room..... That’s the only purpose.

At the core of it all is the WHY.

Yours. Your wife. Your family. If you don’t build that together, you’ll be pulling in different directions.

Last thing I told him…

You're not applying for a job. You're offering value.

Be helpful. Be bold. Be annoying in a good way.

Once you're in the room, everything changes.
