Six Shooter ( † ) Big Sky Montana

Описание к видео Six Shooter ( † ) Big Sky Montana

This lift is now removed. It operated at Big Sky Montana from 2003 to 2024, and will eventually operate at Sugarloaf mountain, in Carrabassett Valley Maine. This was announced on LiftBlog in April 2024, and will hopefully be re-installed there in 2025.

The Six-Shooter at Big Sky Montana is a Six-Person detachable chairlift that is right in the heart of Moonlight Basin. Serving a pretty sizeable chunk of terrain on the mountain, the lift is by far the longest at Big Sky, and the lift with the most Vertical feet. Because of the sheer amount of terrain and coverage this lift gets, this it one of the most crowded lifts in the Moonlight area, if not Big Sky. The capacity on this lift is also very low ( 1800 people per hour, the same as normal fixed grip triples ), so the wait time for this lift feels a whole lot longer here that at either Swift or Ramcharger lifts.

It also has in interesting feature to it, as it was built before the merger of Moonlight Basin into Big Sky in 2013. This means that when it was constructed in 2003, it had to make a slight turn right to avoid being built onto Big Sky property. This is not directly noticeable to most riders, except if you look closely near towers 22 - 30 when the sheaves turn inwards; making them canted so it can move slightly to the right. This feature is now redundant, as Moonlight Basin is now owned and operated by Big Sky.
