In a major setback to the Modi government, the Uttarakhand High Court on Thursday set aside the decision of central government to impose President’s in the state, stating that it was imposed “contrary” to the law laid down by the apex court.
The court has ordered a floor test on April 29, to test the confidence of Harish Rawat government.
“Proclamation (of the central government to impose President’s rule) stands quashed….Elected state government will revive…Petition must succeed,” the bench of Chief Justice K M Joseph and Justice V K Bist ordered, allowing the petition of ousted Chief Minister Harish Rawat.

“In the present case…article 356 (imposition of President’s rule) has been imposed contrary to the law laid down by the apex court…The status quo of State government is restored …The government would go under go floor test on March 29,” the court ordered.
