Funkbuster Team Trail Caddo Lake - Running the Government Ditch by The Outdoor News and Rex Moncrief

Caddo Lake in northwestern Louisiana and northeastern Texas is one of the most stunning natural lakes in the country. Filled with big Cypress trees, it is breath taking in its beauty.

Known as Government Ditch, the US Army Corps of Engineers designed and dredged this man-made canal to bypass the naturally twisting course of the Old River (Big Cypress Bayou) during the 1870s as a shortcut for steamboat traffic. These days the Government Ditch on Caddo Lake still provides a shortcut for boating traffic.

Michael and I decided to fish the northeastern sections of Caddo during a recent Funkbuster Team Trail tournament. This a short video showing some of the beauty of the run in my 1998 Champion 203 with a Mercury 225 Optimax.
