This is the Pentair Quad DE filter. It is a mix between a D.E. filter and a cartridge filter. I really like this filter for several reasons. It is very compact, the 60 sq ft version is 21.5" in diameter (In fact all three sizes have the same diameter), It is very easy to take the cartridges out and clean and it comes in very large sizes for maximum filtration (80 sq ft & 100 sq ft). If you have a 35,000 or larger pool you may have two filters hooked up but with the 100 sq ft Quad DE filter you will only need one.

The video mentioned the backwash valve being dangerous/damaging to the cartridges and it is true that the push/pull piston backwash will cause the cartridge to explode and tear. The push/pull backwash is designed to reverse the water flow so the water goes inside the standard DE grid and expands it to push all of the dirt off. In this case since the cartridges are not designed to expand, they will explode. It is more like a sand filter where the multi-port valve just pushes the dirt out at high pressure without pushing water inside the cartridges.

This filter is super easy to clean. The cartridges even fully coated with DE are very light and easy to handle. Unlike the Pentair FNS plus, Hayward DE filters, American Product and Jandy which have a large top manifold holding the grids making them a pain to take apart and clean, the Quad DE is a piece of cake. The top manifold pops off like a cartridge filter and it is a snap to clean. There are only four to hose off unlike the eight grids in a standard DE filter. All in all a great filter.
