Alexander Krasnov's short retro sci-fi film, titled "Wandering," can be interpreted as a sequence of transformations taking place in the depicted mysterious spaces. In a conflicting relationship with the familiar, the unfamiliar appears as a lure, as a source of melancholy, anxiety, or even terror, as the catalyst for a nostalgic quest for lost familiarity. The purpose of the proposed sound design is to highlight and enhance this tension between the familiar and the unfamiliar by incorporating contrasting elements: natural sounds produced by acoustic musical instruments are blended with strange electronic sounds, recognizable melodies are placed in a relatively vague auditory environment or interweave until they become unintelligible, distinct rhythmic patterns are deconstructed into anarchic rhythms, creating variations in density and sparsity that mirror and signify the flow of the wandering.
