How does the AMFE automatic miniature fire extinguisher work?
The AMFE as a self-releasing, expandable and networkable fire protection solution is composed of an extinguishing agent cylinder and activation head.
Our activation head consists of a brass valve in which a thermo bulb, which you may know from sprinkler systems, is installed. If the temperature rises above a previously defined temperature range, the thermo bulb bursts, due to thermodynamic expansion and releases the valve for the discharge of the extinguishing agent. Through two potential-free contacts, the optionally available S-AMFE can even be connected to a central fire alarm system or machine control system for signaling purposes.
The extinguishing agent used is the fluid from 3M Novec.
This has the following advantages, especially in comparison with CO2:
No electrical conductivity
Residue-free evaporation
No embrittlement due to cold
No danger of suffocation
No flashover danger because of heat extraction
