Janae Shamp is the Majority Leader of the Arizona State Senate, representing District 29. A Republican and longtime resident of Surprise, Arizona, she brings a healthcare background to her legislative role, holding a B.S. in Molecular Biosciences and Biotechnology from Arizona State University and a B.S. in Nursing from Grand Canyon University. Before entering politics, she worked as a perioperative nurse. Elected to the Senate in 2022, Shamp was chosen by her peers as Majority Leader in January 2025. She is known for her strong stances on border security, medical freedom, and parental rights, and has sponsored key legislation including the "Arizona Border Invasion Act" and bills focused on protecting children and restoring constitutional liberties. Shamp describes herself as a pro-life, constitutional conservative, cowgirl, wife, bonus mom, and Nana.
