The late sun on the warm Spring evening in 2019 made flying so an enjoyable experience whilst indulging in my passion to fly quadcopters. The tranquil woodland setting was fabulous too.


Flying a quadcopter in the narrow zone under overhanging trees and above the wild grass carpet is a great challenge.


Flying under and around close spaced trees really is a great way to learn and practice combined throttle control and pitch control that is needed to maintain headway at a consistent height. The instils more accurate flight control.


The benefit of prop guards that are on the ET115V2 3" whoop FPV racer means that it is quite forgiving with the inevitable contact with the trees and their branches. The guards also help with "flip over after crash". The control sensitivity of the quad can be tuned and optimised in BetaFlight. This 3" 2S FPV racer is certainly more suitable for learning than the larger more powerful 5" racers.

The video editing software: Open Source “ShotCut”.
The image from the camera is transmitted to the goggles where the inbuilt DVR records video at 640x480@30fps. The edited footage is upscaled and rendered at 720x480@30fps, where stabilising and de-noising filters are applied.
