‘Baseer: An Eloquent Mind’ is an exhibition of works by Murtaja Baseer (1932 – 2020), one of the most influential modern artists of Bangladesh. The show held from 12 October 2020 to 16 January 2021 featured nearly two hundred artworks and documents, spanning the entirety of Baseer’s career, while emphasizing the artist’s relentless pursuit of an inventive practice and his recurring engagement with the history of modern art. Ranging from tender portraits to visceral abstracts, lucid figurative to monumental murals; the exhibition is a showcase of Baseer’s astonishing reach.

The works featured in the exhibition were drawn from several private collections. This video is part of a series of twelve interviews of collectors and the curator.
