I'm an unashamed fan of the writer Aaron Sorkin, he wrote The West Wing one of the best TV shows of all time, and he wrote The Social Network, one of my favourite films of recent years so although this is directed by an Oscar winner Danny Boyle and stars Michael Fassbender it's that Aaron Sorkin magic that I was wanting and it really really delivers on his fantastic script so this is no straight biopic of the founder of Apple Steve Jobs it's almost like a play and it's in three distinct acts it's backstage as he's about to launch three products the Macintosh computer in '84 the ill-fated NeXT computer in '88 and the iMac in '98 that would change everything it's about his relationships with those in his life both personal and business so you get scenes where he's refusing to acknowledge his daughter his fractured friendship with Steve Wozniak played by Seth Rogen who's great some great scenes with Jeff Daniels as a father figure and ex CEO of his and Kate Winslet his Marketing Manager who's also terrific but it's all about Fassbender as well he's so great at capturingthat prickliness that arrogance that intelligence of Steve Jobs and when you get a great actor and a great script then you get a great movie.
