A quick trip on a 4-day weekend led to an amazing time at the most eye-catching feature in northern Mexico (If you're looking at satellite imagery that is!). We found a small cave but mainly the trip was great because of the beauty of the desert. 60 miles away across a rough two-track lies the nearest paved road to this old abandoned village. Next to it stands a large igneous laccolith, which dominates the skyline of eroded limestone mountains of the Sierra del Burros. Returning to the United States brought us to Amistad Dam, then to San Felipe Springs in Del Rio for a cool off on the way home.
