Jimmy has never told anyone about this traumatic Bigfoot encounter in the Daniel Boone National Forest until now! Recently he began watching Bigfoot documentaries which brought back suppressed memories of this horrific day, causing him to lose sleep at night. Finally he broke down and had to tell his wife. I could hear the fear in his voice when I first heard his story over the phone, then again in the parking lot sitting in our trucks in Somerset, KY and then when we found a spot to sit for the actual interview. It was abundantly apparent it was a huge relief for him to finally get it off his mind and share his story without fear of ridicule. As researchers we turn to eyewitnesses to learn about Bigfoots, but sometimes we forget, witnesses turn to us for help dealing with a sometimes very traumatic experience. We, the researchers, become therapists.
