Please join the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) on Monday, September 23, at 10:00 a.m. ET for a virtual discussion with Dr. Phillips O’Brien, CSIS senior associate, on his book The Strategists. Dr. O’Brien will sit down with Dr. Eliot A. Cohen, Arleigh A. Burke Chair in Strategy at CSIS, and Dr. Kori Schake, senior fellow and the director of foreign and defense policy studies at the American Enterprise Institute.

World War I shaped the distinct perspectives of World War II’s most impactful leaders: Churchill, Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, and Roosevelt. In The Strategists, Dr. O’Brien explores how the five leaders' World War I experiences impacted their approach to warfare in World War II. In this discussion, O’Brien will argue that understanding the influences on key leaders is essential to comprehending wars of the past and present, including the War in Ukraine.

This event is made possible through general support to CSIS.
