Did you ever want to transfer files from your phone to your computer, but either couldn't find a usb cable, or found it to be too slow? I've got your solution!

Quick explanation on how this works. File Transfer Protocol is solely designed around just transfering files, meaning that it's quite good at it. By turning your phone or tablet into an ftp server, you can take advantage of the speed of your wifi and the fact that it doesn't require cables, to transfer any ammount of files you need, without relying on other online services.
You could, in theory, connect an external hard drive to your device and just have a cheap ftp server for any use case.

So how do we do that?
There is a free, ad supported app on the Play store called "Wifi Ftp Server"
Its interface is quite simple, giving you all the information you need on the first page.
To create your server, just press the "start" button. It should give you a notification that it successfully started, and you're good to go!
All you have to do now, is open a windows explorer window, and type on the address bar
ftp : // your ip address : port, which are displayed on your phone.

That's pretty much it. If you can't seem to be able to connect, change your port in the app's settings to something different, and make sure you are connected to the same network, so for example if you have two access points, make sure to connect to the same one that your computer is.
