The Church of Saint Anne, Mother of the Virgin Mary
Founded in 1923, its patron saint's feast day is July 26th.
It is the parish church for the residents of the Nahr al-Kalb ford, most of whom are originally from Zakrit. The story of its construction was recounted to us in 1980 by the late Gabriel Nassar Yammine, who had been the trustee of its endowment since its construction by the French engineer Joseph Petras. Petras was overseeing the construction of the water conveyance canal from Jeita Grotto to the treatment plant in Dbayeh. A friend of this engineer happened to be visiting Lebanon at the time. The residents had initially wanted to name the church after Saint Elias, the name of the previous church they had built near the iron bridge at the entrance to the ford towards Zakrit. They had intended to use this earlier church for their services, as the rugged paths to the parish church in Zakrit made it difficult to reach the church on foot. But Mr. Petras offered to build the church at his own expense on the condition that it be named after Saint Anne, the Guardian of France in the war. His wish was granted, and the church was built, measuring fifty square meters (10m x 5m), and given that name. The late Nassar told us that the church was built in 1923 through Mr. Petras's donation of money and supplies, while the local community contributed to the construction, the purchase of the golden chalice, the priest's vestments, and all other necessities. The parish was then affiliated with the Maronite Diocese of Sarba. In 1963, during the time of Father Gennadius Al-Adham, the Lebanese Order donated part of the adjacent lemon grove, allowing for the church's expansion and the raising of its roof. The sacristy was also added, giving it its current form. The bell tower was renovated through the initiative of engineer Jean Abdullah Hatem Yammine, and a small courtyard was added behind the church through the initiative of engineer Elie Badawi, with the permission of the Lebanese Maronite Order.

Elle est l'église paroissiale des habitants du gué de Nahr al-Kalb, originaires pour la plupart de Zakrit. L'histoire de sa construction nous a été contée en 1980 par feu Gabriel Nassar Yammine, qui en était le gestionnaire depuis sa construction par l'ingénieur français Joseph Petras. Ce dernier supervisait alors la construction du canal d'adduction d'eau reliant la grotte de Jeita à la station d'épuration de Dbayeh. Un ami de l'ingénieur se trouvait justement au Liban à cette époque. Les habitants avaient initialement souhaité nommer l'église en l'honneur de Saint Élie, du nom de la précédente église qu'ils avaient construite près du pont de fer à l'entrée du gué, en direction de Zakrit. Ils comptaient utiliser cette première église pour leurs offices, car les chemins escarpés menant à l'église paroissiale de Zakrit rendaient l'accès à pied difficile. Mais M. Petras proposa de construire l'église à ses propres frais, à condition qu'elle porte le nom de Sainte Anne, protectrice de la France pendant la guerre. Son souhait fut exaucé et l'église, d'une superficie de cinquante mètres carrés (10 m x 5 m), fut construite et baptisée du nom de Sainte Anne. Feu Nassar nous racontait que l'église fut bâtie en 1923 grâce aux dons d'argent et de matériaux de M. Petras, tandis que la communauté locale contribua à la construction, à l'achat du calice en or, des vêtements sacerdotaux et de tout le nécessaire. La paroisse fut alors rattachée au diocèse maronite de Sarba. En 1963, sous le pontificat du père Gennadius Al-Adham, l'Ordre libanais fit don d'une partie de la citronneraie voisine, permettant ainsi l'agrandissement de l'église et la surélévation de sa toiture. La sacristie fut également ajoutée, lui donnant sa forme actuelle. Le clocher a été rénové à l'initiative de l'ingénieur Jean Abdullah Hatem Yammine, et une petite cour a été ajoutée derrière l'église à l'initiative de l'ingénieur Elie Badawi, avec la permission de l'Ordre Maronite Libanais.
كنيسة القديسة حنة - مخاضة نهر الكلب
التأسيس والنشأة:
تأسست الكنيسة عام 1923 لخدمة أهالي المخاضة (أبناء زكريت) لتجنيبهم مشقة الانتقال سيراً إلى زكريت. بُنيت بجهود المهندس الفرنسي "جوزيف بتراس" الذي كان يشرف على مشروع جر مياه جعيتا.
سبب التسمية:
كان الأهالي يرغبون بتسميتها "مار إلياس"، لكن المهندس بتراس عرض تمويل البناء مقابل تسميتها "القديسة حنة" (حارسة فرنسا في الحرب). وافق الأهالي، وساهموا بالعمل اليدوي وتجهيز الكنيسة (الكأس وملابس الكاهن)، وتبعَت الكنيسة أبرشية صربا المارونية.
مراحل التوسع:
1923: البناء الأول بمساحة 50 متراً مربعاً.
1963: توسيع الكنيسة ورفع سقفها وإضافة "السكرستيا" بعد تبرع الرهبنة اللبنانية بجزء من بستان الليمون المجاور.
تحديثات لاحقة: تجديد قبة الجرس (المهندس جان يمين) وإضافة ساحة خلفية (المهندس إيلي البدوي).
