Shala’s Bronzeville Solar Pyramid is a groundbreaking 15 feet tall pyramid skinned by the artist Shala's unique art-rendered solar giclees. Erected in Chicago, the solar pyramid generates photovoltaic electricity despite being covered with iconography; allowing it to illuminate at night and supply energy to the neighboring gallery. Shala's Bronzeville Solar Pyramid is the centerpiece of Gallery Guichard's Great Migration Sculpture Garden. Shala’s Bronzeville Solar Pyramid is the first public sculpture of its kind.

Shala’s Bronzeville Solar Pyramid is populated with various iconography from Egyptian hieroglyphics and historic Chicago icons, including Barack Obama, Kanye West, the Bronze Doughboy and Chance the Rapper.


Shala Akintunde is a Nigerian American social impact artist and pioneer in the emerging medium of Solar Art, a discipline that seamlessly merges art and solar technology.
