My Dog Was Diagnosed With Chronic Kidney Failure|Kidney Diet||Home Cooked Meals|Supplements

Our Dog was diagnosed with CKD, it is my prayer that this would help someone in the same situation.

What is CKD?: chronic renal failure (CRF), or chronic kidney disease (CKD) is the inability of the kidneys to efficiently filter the blood of waste products

Our Plan of Action: Working VERY closely with our Vet and heading to their advice and expertise we chose to use a home cook diet and we chose to give him supplements for his Kidneys. Here is what we did: Changed his diet|Added Supporting Supplements| More Exercise|Reduced Stress.

Our Vet: We hospitalized him and he was on IV fluids for three days to pump his kidneys and then the vet gave him strong antibiotics and sent him home after with antibiotics. He wanted to aggressively treat the condition.

Food: David and I chose to change him to a at home diet because with his condition and after much research we found out that wet food can keep him hydrated-s his Kidneys are not able to flush out toxins increasing water intake can help his body detoxify itself. Also, Malachi our pup needed to be in a very low protein diet. So again some of these things needed to be tweaked.
