The Latinx community is the fastest growing ethnically diverse group in the United States. Latinxs face ongoing disparities regarding S.E.S., education, vocation, housing, access to medical and mental health services, and availability of culturally competent care. Latinxs face oppression, bias, systemic racism, and marginalization. This presentation will focus on how to utilize multicultural counseling skills to address the unique needs of the Latinx clients. It will address Latinx history of immigration, communication styles, cultural constructs, social structure, spirituality, mental health beliefs, and culturally competent mental health treatments. This presentation will also speak to the mental health needs of Latinx veterans.
