Hecz has said that crowdfunding could save the CDL, and suggested that they could easily raise 40 million for prize pools if Call of Duty League went that route.

Hecz made headlines earlier this week when the new OpTic Dallas logo leaked online, and now he’s making more Call of Duty League news with his thoughts on crowdfunding. Specifically, hecz said that Call of Duty League could easily raise 40 million dollars for prize pools if they opened it up to crowdfunding, which could really help spike interest and viewership in the league.

The OpTic owner went so far as to say that Call of Duty League could actually exceed 40 million, and beat The International’s record breaking prize pool. Hecz pointed out that Activision already makes around 2 billion a year off their in-game stores for Warzone and Call of Duty, so having an option like a battle pass or a champs pack that went to funding CDL prize pools would be a massive money raiser.

Call of Duty League could certainly use the help. While viewership did slightly rebound after a rough start, it still couldn’t compete with the views that Valorant was getting this year, and The International has proved that record breaking prize pools bring in big, big viewership, but we will have to wait and see if the CDL takes Hecz’s advice next season.
