The present Simple and the Present Continuous happen to be very confusing when it comes to choosing between either one of them; therefore, STOP looking for the tense indicators and START depending on the communicational and grammatical meaning of each tense.

The Present simple is used to refer to Actions that are: Always true (Facts), Repeated, Permanent, Regular, Habitual (Routine), Not in progress (not necessarily happening at the time of speaking), Fixed Timetables and Schedules.
The Present Continuous is used to refer to Actions that are: Happening at the time of speaking, in progress Actions (Happening Now), Temporary, Incomplete.
