Acura TL - water leaking into trunk

Описание к видео Acura TL - water leaking into trunk

Vehicle: 2000 Acura 3.2 TL

Problem: Water leaking into trunk and puddling around spare tire after several days of rain.

Troubleshooting:
Used towels to wipe trunk dry. Opened sun roof and used plastic bottle to pour water into each of the four drains. No leak found. Used plastic bottle to pour water around trunk drain channel to check trunk seal. No leaks. Removed trunk seal all the way around to inspect. No rust damage found. Trunk seal is good. Cleaned and reinstalled. Poured water around rear window seal. No leaks. Poured more water on window glass and watched it drain off tail lights. Later, as I poured more water on lower left and lower right corner of rear glass, water appeared in trunk where spare tire used to be. At a later time, and after lots of water, I noticed that water was seeping into the trunk thru the tail lights. The gaskets appear to be neoprene material and eventually saturated and developed a small leak. The rear window molding and the rear tail light gaskets are factory original and they are 20-years old now.

Repairs:
1. Replaced rear window molding = Acura Part # 73250-S0K-A01
Replacing the rear window molding requires the glass to be removed. I paid a glass shop for this labor.
2. Replaced left and right rear tail light gaskets = Acura Part # 33503-S0K-A01
The same part fits the left or right side tail light, just flip the gasket over.
This video contains detailed, step-by-step instructions showing installation of: spare tire, jack, trunk liner, rear deck, high mounted center brake light, C-pillar covers, and rear seat.
