The recent IPCC report has made the world strikingly aware that the current rate of climate change is a ‘code red for humanity’. Yet, the role of the military as the world’s single greatest emitter in use of fossil fuels is sorely overlooked in traditional environment discussions. How can we raise awareness about this connection and address the role of militarism as a root cause of climate change? What are the connections between climate action, feminism, and peace? As we begin the road to COP26, join WILPF members from Canada, Sweden, Zimbabwe, and Norway, as they discuss the situation in their region and share how they are mobilising feminist values to campaign for an end to militarism and towards climate justice, from the grassroots to the international level.
