North America's Cherry Tree Isn't the One You Know | Making the United States out of Native Trees

Описание к видео North America's Cherry Tree Isn't the One You Know | Making the United States out of Native Trees

I'm carving a map of the United States where each state is made out of wood from a uniquely important and interesting tree native to that state!

For episode 7 it's the black cherry, which isn't the cherry tree you're thinking of. That's right, the big plump cherries you know and love aren't native to North America at all. Our native cherry tree is the wild black cherry, whose berries are pea-sized and whose wood is something real special!

Watch while I make the state of Michigan, a pretty neat cherry wood plate, a cherry wood fork, and a special cherry dessert that I cook over a backyard file.

Make sure to subscribe and watch the next 43 states get made out of 43 more fascinating trees!

Reminder, the only rules for which species of trees I choose for each state are: the tree must be native to the state (no introduced species at all), and no trees that were featured on the official state tree map!
