Between 2014-2018, Morecambe Bay Partnership has worked closely with professionals and volunteers, to capture new records of the Bay's archaeological sites, using a variety of digital means, to serve as a record for the future.

Looking at remains of old buildings and structures helps to tell the story of Morecambe Bay’s past, but many are vulnerable to becoming lost forever. They are deteriorating through coastal erosion, collapsing due to age or being covered and hidden by vegetation. This is why the digital records captured by the Partnership are so vital.

This is a 3D model of Kirkhead Tower (or Summerhouse), Lower Allithwaite, South Cumbria. Kirkhead Tower is a delightful early 19th Century summerhouse with gorgeous views. The site has tantalising hints of much earlier (pre-)historic use. In 2016, Morecambe Bay Partnership carried out a geophysical survey of the Kirkhead Tower site, trianing local volunteers in the techniques.
