So many kids struggle with making their parents proud and doing the thing they actually want to pursue. Your parents care about your happiness more than anything else and only want the best for you. The truth is if you put their happiness before your own, you will wind up resenting them for controlling your life and preventing you from chasing your dreams. Take the awkwardness or disapproval of chasing your dreams in the short-term, so in 20 years you have a healthy relationship with your parents and don't end up resenting them.
