On The Scene: The Philippine government and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) are preparing to “revisit” a 2014 study on the impact of a major earthquake on the West Valley Fault, the Philippines’ head state volcanologist said on Saturday. JICA’s Metro Manila Earthquake Impact Reduction study — which outlines the risk assessment of a potential 7.2-magnitude quake from the West Valley Fault — was conducted in 2004, said Dr. Teresito Bacolcol, director of the Philippines Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
