The virtual Twin Composer Dikshitar-Beethoven Melharmony Festival from Dec 26, 2020 to Jan 4, 2021 is among the biggest of its kind, bringing together Grammy and other Award winners from several countries celebrating the 250th Birth Anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven and the 245th birth year of his equally illustrious contemporary from the east, Muttuswami Dikshitar. Scores of emerging and young talents representing both Indian and Western Classical traditions will also be a part of this 10-day event, presented at:

Melharmony (www.mellharmonymusic.com) explores chords based on melodic progression, in contrast to the conventional approach in the West centered on harmonic progression. Professional orchestras like BBC Philharmonic & Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra (WCO) as well as student orchestras in School Districts including Madison, Middleton, Oregon, Sun Prairie, Minneapolis/Wayzata, Houston, Round Rock/Austin as well as student orchestras like Sacramento Youth Symphony & Goettingen Youth Symphony in Germany have presented Melharmony concerts or participated in Melharmony residencies and workshops. Melharmonic compositions and arrangements in many an Indian raga like Bangala, Hindolam (Malkauns), Shanmukhapriya, Keeravani, Nattai, of master Indian Carnatic Classical composers like Tyagaraja, Dikshitar, Arunagirinather, Purandara Dasa, Oottukkadu Venkata Kavi have been presented alongside works of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn, Gustav Holst and others in several cities in USA, Germany, Switzerland, Canada, India etc. Melharmony Jazz, Rock and World Music concerts with artists like Glen Velez, Simon Phillips, Loire Cotler, George Brooks, Trichy Sankaran and others have also won critical and popular acclaim. Melharmony is an invention of Indian musician composer Chitravina N Ravikiran (www.ravikiranmusic.com) and the first melharmony concert was performed by artists of the BBC Philharmonic in UK with the inventor in Oct 2000 at the UK Millennium Festival.
