John always felt as though he needed to be in control of his life. For him, this was a way to become perfect and gain approval from others. One day, John suddenly realized he had no control over anything. Rather than embracing his authentic self, he acted in a way he thought only people would accept him as. It was at that point that John realized he had to find a way to connect his inner self with his outer self. Taking part in The Crucible Project's Men's Retreat gave him the push he needed.
