Charter Oak Cultural Center’s Ada Maria Isasi-Diaz Justice Institute presents
Through a Different Lens: How Latina|x|e Women Are Changing The Way Theology is Done
with
Rev. Dr. Cristian De La Rosa, Clinical Assistant Professor of Contextual Theology, Boston University
Special Guest: Claudia Alvarez Hurtado, PhD Student at Princeton Theological Seminary in the Religion and Society Program

This lecture and the discussion to follow will explore what it means to be a descendant of colonized people and what survival and a commitment to justice-making looks like in that context. The talk will help those not in the Latinx community understand the continued impact of colonization on this generation, on all of us, the way that The 1619 Project provides a lens for understanding how the legacy of slavery continues “to color” all of our experiences today. It will also look at the role of the Academy and expose the audience to the work that Latina|x|e women scholars are currently doing and the challenges they face.

Sponsored by CT Humanities.
Presented in partnership with Drew Theological School, Union Theological Seminary, Dodd Center for Human Rights @ UCONN, and Boston University School of Theology.
