From C-SPAN: A History Lecture by Gertrude Himmelfarb, entitled “From Hegel to Marx” sponsored by the American Enterprise Institute Lecture Series. She is a distinguished professor of history emeritus at the Graduate School of the City University of New York. She has been described as “America’s preeminent historian of ideas.” Her field is intellectual history and she is best known for studies of Victorian England in the US. The Ideas and Consequences monthly lecture series is devoted to exploring some of the major ideas that have shaped western civilization and that continue to shape actions today.
