Beholder Episode 3 (Papers, Please / Martha is Sick / Chocolate Candy)
In this episode, Carl talks to Klaus and tells him the truth about the Ministry. Klaus wants to flee with his wife, but he needs an absentee certificate, which he was unable to get. Carl has to ask Mark the archivist to get the papers for Klaus. Meanwhile, Martha is sick and needs aspirin, so Carl has to buy some from the shady vendor outside the building. Carl also sells the canned fish to Rose, the dining worker. Apparently, the fish was bad and gave everyone food poisoning, so Rose's husband Mark is furious. Carl blames Jones for giving him the bad fish, and Mark breaks into his house to fight him. The aspirin Carl gave to Martha didn't help; she needs to see a real doctor. Patrick, Carl's son, also wants money to take a girl he likes to see a play, but it's very expensive.

Beholder is an indie strategy simulation adventure game developed by Warm Lamp Games and published by Alawar Entertainment. It takes place in a dystopian future where an oppressive government rules over its citizens. You play Carl Stein, a landlord who must maintain his apartment building for his tenants. Your real purpose, however, is to spy on the tenants and report any suspicious or illegal activity to the ministry, which may lead to that person's arrest or even assault. You could choose not to report on these activities, but the ministry is watching you and will be displeased if you don't. You can install security cameras in their homes, search their belongings, and send written reports about them to the ministry. You can even blackmail your tenants in order to get money that your family needs. Every decision in the game affects the way the story plays out, even minor ones, and there are multiple endings to experience.
