Brandon Hewitt here with B Random Fishing and I have a special one for you today. I got my hands on the new Curado BFS XG!!! I went to Walmart and bought some Zebco Hotcast 2 piece med light rods that are 4’6” and rated down to 1/16 oz. They are the closest thing I could find to a BFS rod in my price range, haha. For $5.88 I was really surprised at how well they worked. Anyways I bought two so this test would be fair.

For the Casting Reel I used the Curado BFS and the spinning reel is a Penn Battle 2000. This spinning reel is the one I use the most for all my current finesse applications. I really wanted to see if this new BFS reel could cast farther so I marked out some distances, got me a 1/16 oz jerkbait, and started testing.

There were a lot of different casts and tests but what I came up with was the farthest cast with the spinning reel was 50 feet and the Curado BFS was 64! I had it set up with minimal side to side play in the spool tension, two magnets removed from the brakes, and a setting of 4 on the dial. I fought a lot of backlashes trying to get it dialed in that I cut out but I learned so much! I really believe this is going to replace my spinning reel for most applications!
