1947 में भारत दो टुकड़ों में विभाजित हुआ, उसके बाद एक और देश अस्तित्व में आया जिसे पाकिस्तान के नाम से जाना गया | विभाजन के तुरंत बाद ही भारत - पाकिस्तान में पहला युद्ध छिड़ गया जिसे संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने रुकवाया और जंग के इस मोर्चे को नियंत्रण रेखा का नाम दिया जिसे Line Of Control (LOC) भी कहा जाता है | यह नियंत्रण रेखा ज़मीन, पहाड़ और बर्फ़ीले जगहों पर फैला हुआ है, जिसकी निगरानी यहाँ तैनात सैकड़ों जवान साल के 24 घंटे लगातार करते हैं |

The first war between India and Pakistan brought many political and geographical changes. On December 1971, Chief of East Pakistani Army, Lt. Gen. A. A. K. Niazi had signed the unilateral surrendering document in the presence of Eastern Command, Lieutenant General J.S. Arora. Later, on July 2, 1972, Shimla settlement took place under which two countries agreed that the military front will be political and ceasefire line. That was the first war between India and Pakistan. Afterward, this ceasefire line turned into line of control between India and Pakistan.
