On 9th June 2022 02xOmani nationals while engaged in fishing off Omani coastal city AL ASHKHARA got stranded at sea due to engine failure of their boat. They remained adrift for ten days in rough sea conditions and covered more than 250NM distance till they reached Pakistani waters. On 18 June, HQ PMSA received information from JMICC Pakistan regarding possible presence of missing Omani personnel in our maritime zones. After coordinating with MRCC Oman and gathering necessary information, HQ PMSA tasked its maritime patrol aircraft and a patrol vessel for search and rescue. PMSA units were able to locate and rescue both Omani nationals which had been picked up by a Pakistani fishing boat AL KASWA. Despite very rough sea condition, both Omani personnel and their boat were safely recovered and brought to Karachi today where the Consulate General of Oman HE Mr. Mohammad Naseer AL Mabsali received them.
2. Coordinated efforts of Pakistani fishing boat Al Kaswa and PMSA ensured safety and rescue of Omani nationals which was highly appreciated by HE the Consulate General of Oman later at HQ PMSA. Timely response by PMSA assets is a clear manifestation of PMSA resolve that it remains committed to safety of lives at sea.
