The OEM gear shaft is only supported by 2 bearings, The gear shaft that protrudes from the engine can vary from 15mm up to 100mm. Standard gear change involves lateral movement flexing the shaft between the bearings inside of the engine itself. This flex pulls the selector forks away from the drum – Enough to cause missed shifts and false neutrals.
