webinar 51th #1: LLC Charge Mode Controller Implementation, Mixed-Mode Modelling by Qspice

Charge mode controller compared to direct frequency modulation is analog to current mode control to voltage mode control in PWM control. It offers significant improvement both on the transient performance and the performance on a wide operating range design. In one of my latest work, I needed to analyze the potential performance improvement of charge mode control where I am required to analyze the datasheet/application note/design guideline to create a realistic controller model of NCP4390 to be used in our analysis. In this presentation, I will discuss how I deciphered the available information and come out with a good model that is then used in the whole power supply simulation. The modelling used in this presentation is carried out in the new simulation software, Qspice, to leverage their excellent mixed signal simulation capability to efficiently simulate the controller IC and the rest of the circuit.
