Interreg 2 Seas project Horti-BlueC proposes four valorization chains to upcycle local byproducts into building blocks for more sustainable growing media in horticulture. Rewatch the second Horti-BlueC webinar on the production of chitin from shrimp shells or Chinese mitten crab. In this webinar, the conversion of shellfish waste into chitin is discussed. Chitin can be used as a renewable N fertilizer and microbial stimulant when applied in growing media for soilless cultivation.
