Hello everyone,
This is part 2 of my attempt to breed ruby tetras, also known as Axelrodia riesei.
I've tried various methods to encourage spawning, but unfortunately, all my efforts have ended in failure.
First, I fed them live foods exclusively twice a day. In a typical scenario, most common tetras would already be feeling happy and breeding within a few days.
Next, I tried the dim lighting method, which I often use for breeding Cardinal tetras, but it failed.
Then, I lowered the pH from 7 to 6.2 by adding almond leaves and water softener resin, but it had no effect on them.
These tetras seem unaffected by all the measures I've taken.
During their time in the breeding tank for over a month, I have never witnessed any signs of courtship or chasing among them.
It's puzzling because they are not rare or expensive tetras on the market, so they shouldn't be this difficult to breed.
But I will continue trying until I succeed.
