Описание к видео A future hope for dog training and welfare : Panel discussion PART ONE

A future hope for dog training and welfare : Panel discussion PART ONE

Panel members : Victoria Stilwell, Sindhoor Pangal, Suzanne Clothier, Maia Huff-Owen, Sarah Fisher, Dr Amber Batson, Dr Laura Donaldson, and Andrew Hale

Please come and join us for an uplifting and positive vision for dog training and behaviour which we hope will lift weary spirits and inspire colleagues to keep up their important work advocating for dogs and supporting caregivers.
Given the regular discussions on social media and the constant debates about how best to get dogs to do or not do things based primarily on the humans’ perceptions of what ‘good’ behaviour looks like, it can represent an outdated way of thinking. This is not only confusing the public but often letting them and many dogs down in the process.

It is time we moved the conversation on.

We now understand much more about the rich lived emotional lives of dogs and the emphasis is shifting to a more dog centred lens that recognises the dog's innate physical, emotional and social needs This, in essence, is the shift from a primary 'task' focussed model to adopting a more care focussed, dog centric one.

One thing is for sure, with all that we are learning about who dogs are and what dogs need, we need to discover new ways of working with, and supporting, them and their caregivers.

This panel discussion will look at what this means for working with dogs and provide a positive vision for what this future looks like, with some leading voices bringing their own insights into what this shift means and exploring the future direction for the profession.

We hope you can join us and are able to share this across your own social media 🙂
